The FIFA World Cup 2026 is unlike any sporting event the United States has hosted before. With millions of fans, multiple host cities, and global attention at every touchpoint, the event represents a defining moment not only for soccer but for experiential marketing as a whole.
For brands like Coca-Cola, an Official FIFA Partner, every fan interaction matters. Every activation must be designed to engage, perform, and deliver consistently—regardless of location.
That level of execution doesn’t happen by accident.
For the FIFA World Cup 2026, 2020 Exhibits partnered with 160over90 and Coca-Cola to design, fabricate, and execute two large-scale Fan Zone activations: a Tier 1 Stadium Fan Experience at NRG Stadium in Houston and a Tier 2 FIFA Fan Fest activation at the National WWI Memorial in Kansas City. While the two environments were different, our responsibility remained the same: deliver memorable brand experiences while managing every aspect of the build, installation, and execution process.
Our scope included structure rental, scenic fabrication, branding, signage, trucking, heavy equipment, labor, project management, installation, and dismantling. Both activations occupied 10-meter-by-20-meter outdoor footprints and were designed to withstand the realities of live-event environments, including weather exposure, wind loads, and challenging site conditions.
What made this project especially meaningful wasn’t simply the scale—it was the way it was delivered.
One Team, Two Cities
At 2020 Exhibits, we often talk about operating as one company, not a collection of offices. This project put that philosophy into practice.
While Houston and Kansas City required separate crews, schedules, logistics plans, and site management strategies, the project was executed through a single unified team. Designers, project managers, fabricators, logistics coordinators, and field crews collaborated across offices and disciplines to ensure consistency from concept through completion.
The Houston installation ran from June 1 through June 11 ahead of its June 14 opening, while the Kansas City build took place from June 1 through June 8 in preparation for a June 11 launch. Simultaneous installation windows meant that multiple teams had to coordinate deliveries, labor schedules, equipment, and client communications simultaneously.
From the client’s perspective, however, there was one team. One point of accountability. One partner responsible for ensuring both activations reflect the Coca-Cola brand and deliver the intended fan experience.
That’s how experiential partnerships should work.
Solving the Challenges Behind the Experience
The most successful brand activations are often the ones where attendees never see the complexity behind the scenes.
In Houston, fans were welcomed beneath the iconic Coca-Cola wave canopy structure surrounded by branded gathering spaces, “Get Ready with Coca-Cola” service counters, FIFA World Cup trophy graphics, matchday signage, bottle sculptures, and outdoor seating areas designed to encourage engagement and connection.
Kansas City presented a different challenge. The activation site featured a combination of grass and sidewalk surfaces, requiring a custom-leveled deck system to create a safe, visually seamless experience. The elevated platform supported a fan-facing open structure, co-branded FIFA, Coca-Cola, and U.S. Soccer elements, fan photography opportunities, service counters, and branded bottle kiosks.
Both locations demanded careful planning around environmental exposure, outdoor durability, installation sequencing, and site-specific conditions. Every structural decision, fabrication detail, and logistics plan had to account for the realities of operating outdoors for extended periods during one of the world’s most visible sporting events.
These are the moments where experience matters—not just in design, but in trade show and event fabrication, project management, logistics, and field execution.
More Than a Vendor
Large-scale experiential marketing programs require more than fabrication capabilities or installation crews. They require a partner who can integrate seamlessly with client teams, anticipate challenges, and remain accountable from the first design conversation through final strike.
For us, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Zone project is a reflection of what multi-market event execution should look like. Internal collaboration across offices. Transparent communication with clients. Shared ownership of outcomes. And a commitment to delivering consistent experiences regardless of geography or complexity.
When brands invest in a major activation, they need more than a vendor. They need to expand their team.
That’s the one 2020 Exhibits approach—and it’s how we help bring ambitious experiential programs to life, wherever the opportunity takes us. Contact 2020 Exhibits today and let’s build something exceptional together.
