Museum of Fulton County

INDUSTRY: EDUCATION AND CULTURE

CHALLENGE
What was once a three-story home with small rooms and a seemingly endless array of sentimental and meaningful artifacts is now The Museum of Fulton County.

This cultural treasure received funding to build a brand-new facility to share its heritage and promote tourism while collecting and preserving its history and natural resources. With hundreds of artifacts to display in this new space, 2020 Exhibits took on the challenge of creating a dynamic, inviting, and immersive experience.

When taking on a project of a non-profit organization like The Museum of Fulton County, there are many ideas, voices, and opinions from stakeholders and the board of directors to consider.

With the new facility under construction—a recreation of the original courthouse—the goal was to transport all the elements—of which 99% were donated—from the original location to the new facility and showcase them in a manner that would promote tourism while preserving and exhibiting its historical and cultural wealth.

SOLUTION
The 2020 Exhibits Environments team created a museum experience that is all about choices. With plenty of exhibits and displays to admire, each visitor's selected route is engaging and unique.

They strategically implemented ways to capture the senses through different sights, sounds, and hands-on engagement to make each adventure personal. Whether it's a showcase of a historical document, the country's topography, an exotic animal (like a stuffed wolf!), antique weapons, or highly preserved military medals, each experience is entertaining and generates interest and attraction.

From initial planning, 2020 Exhibits executed the Fulton County Museum's vision through this stellar attraction's design, fabrication, and installation. The delivery of custom cabinetry, displays, signage, and audiovisual elements are all testament to this.

The county's mission and vision were strategically considered to create the right environment. Hundreds of items, including a collection of historical documents and artifacts, are on display. Each is given prominence and weight and seen as a signature historical element of the museum.

Lighting serves as ambiance, a wayfinding element, and a highlighting detail, like the automatic activation feature that lights up each display when approached. Indeed, Fulton County's Motto— "Find a Way, or Make Your Own"—is palpable throughout the space.

The signage and custom-fabricated cabinetry—including custom drawers and glass-top display cases—remind visitors of the county's commitment and dedication to history.
The fabrication and installation of the project exquisitely highlight 2020 Exhibits' unmatched, unique range of capabilities.

Combining expertise in design, architectural flow, carpentry, electrical, large-format printing, project management, fabrication, and installation, was critical to making the Museum of Fulton County’s environment successful.

The 2020 Exhibits team undoubtedly possesses many competencies to design, create, and execute any complex vision.
